2025 Contour Adelaide Hills Chardonnay

A$60.00

Made with Chardonnay from the Gumeracha sub-region of the Adelaide Hills, this barrel fermented Chardonnay presents a bouquet of dandelion, white peach and honey dew.

The 2025 season in the Adelaide Hills was characterized by a dry, relatively early season, producing high-quality, intense fruit. Early frosts affected some vineyards in certain sub-regions, however our vineyard in Gumeracha was spared.

Free run juice and pressings were fermented separately to 6 Baumé where the juice was put to 25% new and 75% one to three-year-old French oak barrels allowing a wild-yeast primary barrel fermentation process. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was left on lees with regular stirring (batonnage) until racking just prior to bottling in mid November.

TASTING NOTES

The aroma shows a hint of smoke from the new oak and subtle notes of vanilla, stone fruits and a hint of citrus. On the palate the Initial flintiness of gives way a hint of vanilla which combines with texture to create a carmel note. This then leads to a rich bouquet of white peach and melon along with lemon and lime. A beautifully balance and complex chardonnay in the style of an exceptional white burgundy.
